We wear so many hats each day...or...in our case, boots....
~We pull on rubber boots with our pajama pants to do morning chores.
~Put on real clothes and our good boots to make an appearance at our little one's field day.
~Zoom back home and change into old boots to go to the hayfield and rake hay.
~When we finally sit down after feeding our critters and our family, it isn't long before we have to hit the hay and start all over again in the morning…
We wouldn't trade it for anything in the world....BUT....we very seldom take any time to take care of ourselves...and eventually, if we don't learn to care for ourselves we won't be able to care for everyone and everything that depends on us. As a Country Girl who knows all about the joys and struggles of running a family and a farm....I GET IT!
I have always been passionate about helping others along this journey of life. That passion was strengthened when I lost my 48 year old sister to a massive heart attack. My goal is to share my experiences along this journey of how I've arrived at where I am today and to provide knowledge and support so others can feel the freedom and relief of learning how to carve out a little time to give back to themselves. Physically, emotionally and spiritually.
When Country Girl Sisterhood began in May of 2016, it was just a Facebook page where I could share my life on the farm and my journey to regain my strength and energy in order to do everything that I needed to do for my family and on the farm. My page offered ladies a place they could go to check out some better food choices for themselves and their families. They could get a little motivation and inspiration to make some daily changes in life in order to feel better and have more energy.
I remember my sister Julie reaching out to me in June saying that she really wanted to make different daily choices so she could lose weight, have more energy and feel better. One month later she was gone...we lost her to a massive heart attack in July. She was a single mom raising three teenagers by herself. She was under a lot of pressure from work, stressed out from trying to take care of everything and never took any time for herself.
After that, my mission got a lot bigger. Losing Julie was a senseless tragedy. I don't want anyone else to lose someone they care about when we can make different daily choices and change the course of our lives and that of our loved ones. When we know how our bodies are affected by certain decisions, we can choose to make different ones and achieve lasting changes to our health and well being.
I would like to invite you to join Country Girl Sisterhood and be an agent of change in your own life and the lives of the people you come into contact with.
